Maura Peter's Candles

"THE MAURA PETERS CANDLE IS A LABOR OF LOVE. THE CANDLES ARE BLENDED AND HAND POURED INTO BLOWN GLASS VASES IN HER STUDIO. THE BURN POOL IS LARGE AND EVEN, THE WAX BURNS CLEANLY, AND THE BLOWN GLASS VASES ARE INTENDED TO BE KEPT AND ENJOYED. ONCE YOU HAVE BURNED THROUGH YOUR CANDLE, SIMPLY PLACE THE VASE IN THE FREEZER. ONCE IT IS COLD ENOUGH, THE WAX WILL RELEASE FROM THE GLASS. CLEAN THE VASE WITH DISH SOAP AND ENJOY AS YOU LIKE... PEONIES ARE NICE"-Maura Peters

Place Setting has one of the most unique candles found in all of Jackson! The Maura Peter's line is basically an accessory that makes your home smell fabulous! Basic Bowl

LISTEN UP YOUNG BRIDES......I've only been married for 10 years, and I regret so much taking back some of the useful items I got as a young 23 yr old bride! STUPID STUPID..should have listened to my mom! Oh, how I need more than 2 items like this! I cant tell you how many times, I have needed some very basic essential items for entertaining, only to show up short when I look for these items in my cupboard. I thought that if I couldn't put it out, show it off, or decorate with it I didn't need it. I thought if I had received one bowl, that I didn't need 2. I thought that everything had to match in categories (pottery, Annie Glass, Crystal or Silver) ....And stupid me, thought that I was gonna live in that tiny house forever. Well, turns out, that some of my most favorite wedding gifts are items that are just basic. Basic enough to match a friends' decor if I needed to bring something to a pot-luck dinner. They would be something I could dress up or dress down. Throw a fruit salad in this, use it for a dip, or chips....or make banana pudding in it. Its' like owning a basic black dress..you WILL NEED IT AND IT WILL never let you down.

Need a wedding gift for a bride that you are not sure of her taste? How classic is this bowl? AND... the best part is it is only $38.00.

Print a copy of this post, bring into PlaceSetting and receive 10% off this bowl from June 18th-June 25th 2009

Frames For Father's

Last year, I was a little "low-on-dough" for Father's Day. Couldn't quite get my loving husband the shotgun from Bass Pro Shop that he so desired for. So, I hired a local photographer, dressed up myself and our daughter... and took some fabulous pictures of us out in my back yard. I developed them, and voila!....we put them in this exact frame and gave it to my husband for Father's Day. He truly did like it. If you could see his desk, you would know why. He has a few OLD pictures tacked up with push pins on his cubicle and nothing else. The frame warms up his gray, fluorescent lit cubical (and the little old ladies that he works with always comment on it)! I highly recommend you do the same. Because there are so few masculine frames (that don't have some cheesy saying like "Gone Fishin'" on them)out in the retail world..this one is perfect! Place Setting has them in 4x6(standard size) and 5x7's....They are so reasonably priced...they hang or stand, and they are THICK and wooden (not resin). Father's day is only a week away. A picture really is worth a 1000 words....

In addition to making a lovely Father's Day gift, or Grandfather's gift....These would warm up any book shelf! I always have a nightmare that my computer will crash, and every latest and greatest shared memory would be lost off my hard drive! I'm good about routinely sending them to Walgreen's (with one click of the mouse, and less than 3 hrs) I pick them up and swap out my picture frames! Updating a picture frame can make a huge difference in your home.

Come to Place Setting in Highland Village, Jackson, MS and print out this Blog and receive 10% off of these wooden frames....July 11, 2009-July 18th, 2009!

DRINK UP AT PLACESETTING

My favorite thing to serve and to drink at a girls get together (besides wine) is any kind of punch! I once had my book club over and 5 of my guests were pregnant...so I used a recipe for a refreshing punch and named it the "PRENATAL PUNCH"....IF I HAD ONLY HAD THIS DECANTER WHEN I HAD THAT PARTY! What a fabulous dispenser, this is called a 2 part dispenser......because, it lifts to be 2 parts, the bottom part (much like a trifle bowl)can be for decor- you could fill it up with flowers or fruit, and the top part is where 2 gallons of your favorite beverage will be served. The spout, is stainless, and yes, its easy to clean! This is a must for anyone that entertains, a caterer or someone; like me, who just hosted a few girls and wanted to serve a little suprise! Below are a few of my favorite punch recipes!

Fruit Punch
1 (12 oz) can frozen orange juice
1 (46 oz) can pineapple juice
1 (10oz) pkg frozen strawberries
1 (12 oz) can frozen lemonade
2 quarts Ginger Ale
Mix frozen juice per can's instructions
add pineapple juice, stir in strawberries. Add Ginger Ale right before you serve the punch.

Bridesmaid Punch
1 qt white grape juice
2 qts very cold ginger ale
mix and serve

Hawaiian Cooler
1 fifth Vodka
3 small cans frozen lemonade
1 large can pineapple juice
1 large can coconut cream

Pour into plastic jug and freeze until slushy-about 48 hrs
Add Ginger Ale or 7-up before serving.

Peach Schnapps Punch
3 (3oz) peach jello
4 cups sugar
1 large can frozen lemonade
2 qt or more ginger ale
13 cups water
2 (46 oz) Pineapple juice
1 1/2 peach schnapps
Serpartely dissolve jello in 9 cups of boiling water
Dissolve sugar in another 4 cups of boiling water
After both mixtures are dissolved, stir together and add pineapple juice, lemonade, and peach shnapps. Pour into 2 ice cream pails, freeze. When ready to serve thaw 2-3 hours and add Ginger Ale to your taste!
The dispenser is $65.00
SPECIAL SAVINGS: Present a copy of this post to PlaceSetting from 6/4/09 to 6/11/09 and save 10% off your purchase of one of these dispensers
